Seiko continues to celebrate a long history of sports watch excellence
with recreations and reinterpretations of landmark achievements.
This extraordinary Limited Edition, exclusively available in the U.S.
in a controlled production run of 300 with the serial number engraved
on each case-back, reimagines Seiko’s 1965 diver’s watch, the first
made in Japan, with a water resistance, legibility & durability that
made it standard equipment on the Japanese Antarctic Research
Expedition (JARE) & propelled Seiko into the forefront of dive watch
design.
Paying tribute to underwater archaeology, this reinterpretation
features a light champagne sun-ray dial with a design inspired
by ancient astrolabes, used to find latitude and time based on
the position of the stars & the sun.
The caliber 8L35 26-jewel automatic movement, hand-assembled
at Seiko’s Shizukuishi watch studio with the increased torque
necessary for smooth operation of the enlarged diver’s watch hands,
beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour.
This superbly functional watch, in stainless steel with gold finish,
also includes a date calendar, LumiBrite markers & hands for enhanced
legibility, dual curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the
inner surface, screw-down crown & case-back, brown uni-directional
